Bhutan: Ways of learning and teaching

Bhutan is a small country with an ancient cultural tradition that is rapidly, but selectively, adopting newer ways of working. In 2003 the first university was established, based upon a network of colleges throughout the country. Soon after that, the Royal University of Bhutan and the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland, began a working relationship. This book is a collection of chapters about some of the action research projects that have emerged from that relationship, as successive joint initiatives in education have been explored in order to continuously improve the learning and teaching opportunities for staff and students. These projects are part of an ongoing initiative to embed research and action on educational activities at the Royal University of Bhutan.
